Hey, Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, Phoenix, Detroit, Toronto, Guess what?

Chicken Butt!

That’s right, I’ve gotten the final confirmation on the tour, and all those cities that were on stand-by?

No! Big ginormous No to you. Turns out, that the economy is, uh, not doing that well, so my five week tour is, uh, two weeks long.

I guess the powers that be are punishing Chicago and Friends because I ate a Snickers out of the mini-bar on the last tour

and costs got out of hand.

But the good news is, you can order SIGNED first edtions from the links below. But you need to get your orders in BEFORE February 10th, so they’ll have the books on hand for me to sign when I get there.

Fool and/or Lamb (Lamb’s the leather edition, not a first edition.)

Canadians – I’m pretty sure both these stores will ship to Canada, but you’re going to have to call them.

Now, Chicago didn’t make the cut, so don’t go on about why I’m not coming to your town. Because I think we all know that Chicago can kick the ass of your wussy little town. Maybe the economy will recover by the time the paperback comes out and then I can come to everyone’s house and personally read the book to you.

Here’s the tour as it stands. We still may add Capitola and Petaluma, California, but for now (check back for corrections, too, times and whatnot, if you’re coming to an event):

That’s too bad. Chicago will miss you.

Why oh why did you eat that Snickers? Wasn’t there a conveniently located Walgreens or something close by?

    *cry*

I am going to hold you to coming to my house to personally read it to me!
    Pack a Parka!

What if we promise to be extra nice to you in Chicago? We’ll be your best friends.

Damn you! your headline in my newsreader got me all excited for a Boston signing!

Capitola? That’s near me! When?! When!? When?!

Dave, and mattw, Jeeze, haven’t you guys ever had a hankerin’ for a Snickers? It was right there. You turn it down. And mattw, stop being so passive aggressive, you know as well as I do that, as we speak, the citizens of Chicago are gathering in Grant Park readying for the march on somebody
    to get revenge for this.
Tell us who Chris. Tell us who.

Hey! My last comment has been removed from the list. I can’t believe it……CENSORSHIP……from the AG! I feel so used………

Those powers that be sure are smart to not promote your book in the third largest market in the United States! Its hard to argue with the brilliant logic that cutting out promotion and potential growth of your fan base will undoubtedly lead to greater sales!

I wish I was as smart as a publishing executive!

Okay. So, I’m a little dissapointed. We give the nation Obama and can’t even get a little Moore as payment huh? This is all the fault of Dark Helmet (fmr. Governor Blagojevich) isn’t it?

To all in Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, Phoenix, Detroit & Toronto: Welcome to “Third-world, fly-over state” status in the AG tour world. It’s not that bad and you’ll eventually get used to it. And you’ll still Love AG, because that’s what we do here in Monkey Butt.

    How odd.

As a publisher (ok, a very, very SMALL publisher, but hey. I’ve got a SAN number), I’ve been hoping that the downward economy will push people towards forms of entertainment that have a higher hours-of-fun/dollar ratio.

Books being a standout in that category.

Consequently, if my company could afford to send our authors out on tour, we sure as hell would.

Any insight, Chris, as to why they’re bumping you to the short-bus version of the tour?

Your powers that be sound suspiciously like the same ones who won’t let me get a comfy new leather computer chair for work. Damn them.

  • 14 Lauren // Feb 4, 2009 at 7:56 am

    You are such a tease.

    But we loves ya anyway.

Actually, with the winter we’ve been having, you’re probably better to stay away from my snowy-ass state. Weren’t you almost snowed in last time you came here, when you read at Porter Square Books in Cambridge?

We’ll just have to cross our fingers for a fall paperback tour.

  • 15 Chelsea // Feb 7, 2009 at 9:16 pm

Sadness! A squared will miss you, too.

The really sucky part is, I was actually supposed to be IN Washington the week you’re going to be at Politics and Prose (which is my brother’s favorite bookstore btw) but the trip got pushed back until May. 🙁

Oh come on! You dont want to come to Minneapolis? It was only belowzero for like 33 days straight here. That’s not that bad. We’ll get you some nice hot cocoa. huh? would you like that chris? might even throw in some whipped ream.

  • 17 Zach // Feb 8, 2009 at 7:26 am

ream? yeah ream. man i suck.

  • 18 JasonB // Feb 9, 2009 at 8:58 am

I was just notified by Mysterious Galaxy Books that you won’t be personalizing the copy of “Fool” that I ordered. They said it’s because of the high volume of orders; but, it’s really because I’m a Republican, isn’t it?

Sorry, couldn’t resist. I’m glad it’s selling so well.

  • 19 Donovan J // Feb 10, 2009 at 9:18 am

Oh, Minnesota cries! We love your tasty bits and weep at their absence! Though you are a bit too tall and arrogant, your humor is still greater and we will view you online through our tears. Boo hoo!

  • 20 Heather // Feb 17, 2009 at 2:34 pm

Next time you come to Chicago, I will bring you your very own supply of Snickers. You have it in writing.

Screw that mini-bar right to Hell!
