Author Guy Fans Save the Economy, And Get Free Fun!

January 27th, 2009 · 12 Comments

Everyone is saying two things about the economy. First, it won’t get better until people start spending money, and it won’t get better until banks start lending money.

I know that you guys are going to do your part by buying Fool when it comes out, and books are expensive. You guys are going to fix the economy by making that simple purchase. And banks will be all, “Hey, they put this book on thier card. Let’s lend out some of this major bank that the congress gave us.”

So, in thanks to you, until February 10, when Fool comes out, you can read A Dirty Job, my 9th and very funny book, for free. FREE!  No, you can’t download it, or save it, but you can read it.

Here:
READ A DIRTY JOB FREE!

Have Fun!

PS: PS. Hey, I know you most of you guys are saying you’ve read this book already (bless you, my children), but what a great opportunity to turn a friend on to giant hellhounds and other Dirty Job goodness without risking losing your own precious, glow in the dark copy. Send them the link.

Nice! It was great, and I’d love to re-read it.

How I helped the economy: I went and bought all of your books that they do not have at my library so I could finish reading your collection + I pre-ordered Fool, because I have a thing for hardcover’s, and didn’t want to wait in-line to get it from the library.

You are incredibly funny and witty, and my parents might question my moral judgment if they happen to pick up You Suck off of my bookshelf. Certainly my sister has after I gave it to her to read. I on the other hand couldn’t contain my laughter, and read the book within a 24 hour period. Shhhhh… don’t tell my boss.

P.S. Thanks for the free read… something to occupy the extra hours in a day I find myself staring at a computer screen (mainly company time).

So I moved into a new house this weekend. I knew it was the place for me because the previous tenants left behind a bookcase. And guess what was right there on the middle shelf?

    A Dirty Job!

Nothing like a little Christopher Moore liven up a beach house.

What an awesome alternative to working while I’m at work! Thanks Chris!

I love your work, and I love that you are making A Dirty Job (my favorite, by the way) available, but this would be a lot more useful to you, your readers, and potential readers if you would release it in a more accessible form. If I can get it in text, then I can forward it to friends, and instead of me just telling them about it (and that book is hard to describe), I could let them read it, and most would either buy THAT book (since ebooks are better as supplement than as products) or would be a lot more likely to buy your others.

Check out how successful Cory Doctorow is doing because he is doing percisely this. http://craphound.com

Oh, and thanks for actually having an RSS feed. Few of the authors that I follow use them, and so I miss things. With you using a blog like this, as soon as you post, I know about it, and have it added to my reading queue.

    Thanks for the great books.

“A Dirty Job” was a great book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have yet to convince my wife that we need a copy of this for our own shelves instead of just checking it out of the library whenever I want to read it, but I believe now I have the perfect argument. “You don’t want the economy to go into even further ruin, do you?”

Thanks, Chris — and Harper Collins!

I just now sent several people the link to this blog entry.

A Dirty Job is by far my favorite book you’ve written. Although, the dead wife in the beginning is a bit of a bummer…

I’m posting the link of my blog. Everyone should share in the creepy squirrel people goodness.

Ah, A Dirty Job, one of your finest Chris.
Thanks Muchly for the laughter and absurdity.

Ah, my personal favorite! So I shall share this with all I know. Oh and I can’t wait for the 10th to get here so I can read more than the first chapter of Fool. Thanks to you and Harper Collins for the free reading!

I loved a Dirty Job, but I’ve already recommended it to many people at Barnes and Noble, where I work (In fact, you are my recommended read!). So instead of buying a book to save the economy, today I have bought one of the FANtastic t-shirts (which I think cost almost as much as a hardcover book!) from your “Fruitbat Boardello” shop to wear to your appearance in Portland on February 17th (Awww, sorry Chicago!). See you then!

hey Chris … I have A Dirty Job and Fool being promopted on my book group, but for some reason A Dirty Job is now only showing up until page 62, then it jumps to the end of the book. I have sad readers whining at me. Do you think they’ll re-open it up until the 10th?
